Update: Greensboro Fellows Program

Dear Friends of the Greensboro Fellows...our most recent ministry update!

From the Director:

“...treat the Scripture of God as the Face of God. Melt in its presence.”  St. Augustine

I have been devouring a book by the late Eugene Peterson, Eat This Book. Our world is hurried, scattered, and distracted. More than ever we need to soak in the Scriptures so “the power of words penetrate our lives and create truth and beauty and goodness. Reading that it enters into our souls as food enters our stomachs, spreads through our blood, and becomes holiness and love and wisdom.”

Christians today often have the “Trinity of Wants, Needs, and Feelings” replacing the Trinity of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. And we are distracted by social media, smart phones and information overload. I love how Peterson calls me to take time to sit and soak in the Word of God so I may encounter God. I long to “Eat this book” so His Words are getting into my gut, moving through my bloodstream, and growing muscle. Then I can live, reflecting the beauty and love of Jesus Christ for the sake of the world.

I love how Becky and I are learning, with the Fellows, to live in daily rhythms of praying unceasingly and meditating on His word. This is God’s way to grow our “purity of heart” (Matthew 5:8), where Christ is unhindered to live in and through us. Please pray for us as we seek to grow and transformed in Christ.

Alyssa Clark

Alyssa was a Fellow two years ago (2017-2018). She has been a joy to us. During the program she realized she did not need to go on staff with a ministry organization to please the Lord. One of her high school dreams resurfaced, she realized she had silenced her calling.

After the program, she received her Master’s in ESL (teaching english as a second language)and taught at our local community college.

On July 25th, she moved to La Paz, Bolivia, to follow her dream to be a teacher in a Latin American Country! A place where she can be a witness for Christ and serve in a vocation helping others in tangible ways. Ministry and Vocation combined as one!

Her gratitude for how the Lord used the Fellows program in her life, including helping her to discern her calling, is an encouragement to us. We have many stories like this to tell, but we wanted to share about Alyssa. We love and miss her!

Class of 2019-2020

Our next group of Fellows are arriving September 2, and we are excited! We are excited about the young men and women God raised up for the next nine months. We will introduce you next time.

We have been working the past three months on recruiting and interviewing candidates, connecting with college career centers and campus ministers, updating our website and recruiting material, making video’s, finding jobs and host homes, organizing and planning for this next group, praying and praying....but there are needs out of our control. It draws us to trust, and He is always faithful. But we value your prayers, especially for jobs and host homes!

We could not do this without your friendship, prayers and support. Thank you for investing in us and this ministry of building up emerging leaders for the kingdom!

Much love - Dodd & Becky Drake
