Camp Booyah 2021: Youth Reflections

As always my week at Camp Booyah didn’t disappoint! Between the counsel from our amazing leaders, fun games, encouraging talks, and mealtimes with friends, I was able to taste and see more of Jesus. Our cabin times and discussions about the prodigal son also helped me deepen my relationship with Christ and better understand his love for us. I am so grateful for this sweet community and can’t wait for next year!

I’ve gone to camp since the first year in 2015. One of my favorite things about camp is that each year is different. Camp has grown and changed, but a few things always stay the same. The first day is fun because you are reunited with some of your best friends. It’s funny to see how the new campers look at the other campers wide eyed the first day, but by the second day they’re acting just as crazy as the rest of us. Camp Booyah gives you friendship and camaraderie unlike anything else I’ve ever experienced. And by the end of the week camp really feels like one big family. But the most important thing about camp is that it allows you to slow down and hear the voice of God. Through your counselors, through your friends, and in cabin time you see him in the people and the world around you. And that experience is life changing.

Camp was such a fun and good experience! I loved being able to grow closer with people and the girls in my cabin!! I think my favorite part was either cabin time or being with my team. Getting to be with my team was so fun because I got the chance to know people from other churches that I might not normally get to know! I love getting to go to camp every year!!

2021 was my first year at Camp Booyah and the week of June 13th has to be one of the top 10 best weeks of my life. To start off the car ride itself was fun. We watched a movie and after that we listened to some 80’s music. After that when we got to the camp I felt very welcomed by the staff and welcomed by the members of other churches. The food at camp was great and the cabins were excellent and every activity we went to was fun. My favorite was mud tug of war. Another thing I enjoyed was the ropes course because it really helped get over my fear of heights. My most favorite part was worshiping at the worship center and cabin time which really helped me express my feelings with people other than my family, and I also have a favorite worship song now called “Is He Worthy?”

Camp Booyah was impactful on both my relationship with the Lord and my friendships. I grew closer with many of my cabin mates, and found immense joy in getting to know and love my teammates. Being together for worship, and praising the Lord was a breath of fresh air. Drew’s talks on the Prodigal Son cut deep and drew me back to the Father. I look forward to Camp Booyah every year!
