RYM Weekly 9.18.19

This Sunday night at SNL we will be continuing our fall series on Proverbs called "The Good Life." Last week students went home with a Proverbs journal, a great way for them to stay in the word.
We have built a schedule for them to go through all 31 chapters twice through the fall. You can download the schedule here. The cost of the journals is $5. Feel free to buy another one for yourself and go through it ALONGSIDE them!

For a majority of their younger years, most of your kids’ important choices were likely made by you, their parents. As they’re now in middle and high school, smack in the middle of the transition from childhood to adulthood, we want to come alongside you in helping your kids learn how to make wise decisions.

This semester we are going to walk through the book of Proverbs and learn to walk wisely, particularly related to the following areas that are often confusing for teenagers:
· What is “the good life?”
· Honoring parents
· Handling money
· Sexual purity
· Work ethic and leadership
· Friendship, words, and social media.
· Eating and drinking healthily
· Emotional maturity/attitude/humility

In the Message Bible, Eugene Peterson writes the following words in the introduction to Proverbs, “Wisdom has to do with becoming skillful in these matters. Threaded through all these items is the insistence that the way we think of and respond to God is the most practical thing we can do. In matters of everyday practicality, nothing, absolutely nothing, takes precedence over God. Proverbs concentrates on these concerns more than any other book of the Bible.”
